This Matura Paper talks about the crypto currency Bitcoin. Bitcoin has been a well discussed topic in the media. Traders, who have gained a lot of profit with Bitcoin, became examples for other traders. People started trading Bitcoin with high earnings in the beginning and big losses in the last few months. Firstly, this Matura Paper will explain the most important aspects about this crypto currency and the main idea of blockchain. Important aspects such as options to purchase Bitcoins will be mentioned. The second part, called: |Strategies Applied to Bitcoin Course| is the practical part of this Matura Paper. It compares six different trading strategies over six weeks. Four out of the six strategies are based on fixed time intervals between buying and selling one Bitcoin. The other two strategies are based on a possible upwards or downwards trend. The aim is to find the most promising strategy. The third part of this Matura Paper is the presentation of the results and their interpretation. Furthermore, the results are illustrated using diagrams. Overall, there was a clear downwards trend of the Bitcoin course, so that with none of the six strategies it was possible to generate any profit. Almost all of the hypotheses mentioned in the beginning of the work had to be refuted. Nonetheless, it was an interesting experience with unexpected results and high learning effects for me.
